At The Organizational Level:
We facilitate a discussion with the leadership group and ask them to gain consensus on a variety of issues that affect the workplace.

We need to learn…
The Critical Success Factors – what performance drivers exist in your company and how will they be measured?
What goals and strategies are in place for improved corporate performance?
What is unique about the current culture? Does it need to change?

From this discussion, we are able to form planning concepts that will help set the direction of the project and give us measurement points to strive for.

At The Practice Level:
We meet individually with each department manager or team leader.

We need to learn…
What are the deliverables each group provides back to the organization?
How do key interactions take place?
What job functions exist within the group?
What do populations look like now, and how will they change in the future?

From this discussion, we are able to make recommendations on adjacency plans and begin to map communication within the organization.

At The individual Level:
We meet with focus groups of like job function representatives and ask them to gain consensus on the work they do both individually and as a group or team.

We need to learn…
What is the nature, location and duration of both individual and group work?
What specific tasks are unique to this group?
What specific tools are needed to support work process?
What range of spaces is necessary to enhance communication and teamwork?
What real estate can be shared, what must be owned?

Communities of Practice
A group of people who share a strong social bond, vocabulary and work practice.

While each organization is different, there is a common bond among them when striving for performance. All organizations contain three levels of performance. Each level is considered a subsystem of the organization; they interact and depend on one another and all three are critical to success. If a change is made to one level, it directly affects the others and it is important to understand all three to improve corporate performance.

Our consulting process looks closely at the three levels of performance that drive an organization. The combination of the data gathered and observations made give NBS the information needed to plan a space that supports and enhances the communication and workflow within the workplace.
